I had to put Miley to sleep today after having her in my life for over 9 years. She was such a wonderful friend and loyal companion. I will miss her so much, but I hope that she is roaming the mountains with her friend Wolfgang and having a great time digging, chasing rodents and keeping watch.
Playing in our apartment in San Ramon.I decided that it was time to let her go because she has had what appeared to be arthritis in her right front leg for some time now. It became very noticeable about 2 weeks ago so I took her to see Dr. Rogers. Dr. Rogers did some tests and suspected Addison's disease; however, when Miley failed to respond to the pain medication this last week, we both suspected cancer of some sort. When I took Miley in today, she had lost 2 pounds in two weeks and could barely limp around. Dr. Rogers also noticed the swelling in her leg had gotten worse and with the rapid deterioration of Miley's condition - I just couldn't see her suffer in pain anymore.
So Thank You Miley for being such a good girl. I love you and miss you and hope to see you in heaven some day. Until then, keep roaming the mountains and smiling like you love to do.
